Configuring the DIP switches

On the back of your DW or D 10 base station, or on the underside of your SD base station, you will find six small white switches - these are the DIP switches. These control additional settings which can be adjusted to ensure optimal performance of your headset.

DIP switches 1 and 2 - DHSG/MSH standards

These DIP switches regulate the electronic standard used when you have connected the base station using an EHS cable, or if you are using the handset lifter (HSL 10).

If you are using an EHS cable, the included quick guide will show you if the first or second switch should be activated. The first DIP switch will activate the DHSG standard, while the second will activate the MSH standard.

If you are using the HSL 10 or the standard audio cable, then these settings should remain deactivated.

If you have a D 10 USB or a D 10 USB ML, then these switches enable different ringtones.

DIP switch 3 - long/short range

This setting affects the range that can be achieved between the headset and base station. As default the system is set to long or standard range. If the environment is dense with wireless signals (i.e.: numerous wireless headsets are being used in close proximity) then you may set the system to short or reduced range to reduce unnecessary interference and promote improved connectivity.

DIP switch 4 - Auto Link

With this switch activated, the headset will establish a wireless connection with the base station each time it is removed from the cradle. If this settings is not activated, you will need to press the multifunction button to establish this link.

Please note that if you are using a call control solution and this setting is activated, removing the headset from the base station will not only establish the wireless connection between the two, but will also answer the call.

DIP switch 5 - wideband and narrowband

This settings determines how much information is transmitted via the wireless connection. Wideband is the default setting and allows for more information, resulting in a more natural sounding voice.

Activating narrowband will reduce the amount on information being sent and as consequence will increase battery life by 50%.

Please note that in order for wideband to be utilised both sides of the connection must be using wideband. If one side of the connection is wideband and one side of the connection is narrowband then both sides of the connection will in effect both default to narrowband.

DIP switch 6 - volume limiter

When this switch is activated, volume reproduced in the headset will be limited to comply with different safety regulations and legislation. The actual limit is country specific, but typically volume will be limited to 85dB when this setting is engaged.
